Mujo reflects on the Buddhist idea of impermanence as expressed by poet and Buddhist monk Kamo no Chōmei (1155-1216). In his book Hojoki, Chōmei leaves behind a violent Kyoto devastated by windstorms, famine, fire and earthquakes, and retreats into the mountains for a solitary life. I imagine his journey and trace a path of my own encounters with nature's transience.
